Geilo (pronounced yay low) is one of Scandinavia's leading and most popular alpine destinations, located in Southern Norway, midway between Oslo and Bergen. Geilo has also won "Norway's Best Ski Resort" five times in a row since 2019!
There are two ski areas, which are located on either side of the valley floor, Geilolia and Slaatta, and these are easily connected by a ski bus, and in all areas you will find slopes suitable for all abilities. With quiet slopes for beginners, but also enough challenging runs for the more experienced and adventurous skier.
Due to the area getting a high amount of snowfall, Geilo benefits from an extended ski season stretching from mid-November to the end of May.
Norway offers a completely different experience from the typical European ski trip, and able to add to your experience with the added evening activities like night skiing, husky dog sledging, horse-drawn sleigh rides and boat cruises to see the spectacular Fjords.
Being Norway, the most enjoyable time to ski is later in the season when the temperatures are kinder, and the days longer. Geilo has won "Norway's Best Ski Resort" five times in a row since 2019.
There is 34kms of slopes, split over each side of the valley. The Vestlia side offers more longer greens and easier blue runs, the main Geilo ski area offers a larger range of blue runs, as well as some more challenging red runs.
Between the two main ski areas the resort has over 46 runs, serviced by 20 lifts (Chairlifts, drag lifts and magic carpets).

Vestlia Resort is a 4* hotel in a great location, being only 50m from the ski school / lifts.
This is a high quality hotel with wonderful public areas and spaces to relax in. The hotel is beautifully decorated with a variety of excellent facilities such as an on-site restaurant and bar, an inhouse 20m swimming pool with a whirlpool and 82 meter long water slide which runs all the way from the fourth floor to the first floor! As well as a bowling alley and shuffle board, and a spa & fitness area (adult use at a supplement).
The Vestlia offers breakfast and dinner in the hotel, with packed lunches as standard. You can upgrade to a hot lunch in the hotel for a supplement.
The rooms are all ensuite with some amazing views!

The transfer time between the airport and hotel is around 3.5 hours.

SPENDING MONEY - They shouldn't need much but a small amount of sterling whilst they are at the airport and the remainder in Norwegian Krone. Enough so they can get the odd hot chocolate on the mountain, a snack at the services en route to the hotel and a souvenir or two to thank you for letting them go on this amazing trip!
SKIWEAR - The cost of skiwear has come down dramatically over the past few years so this won't cost the earth. We provide the rental of boots, helmets, ski's and poles but they'll need a ski jacket, salopettes ( waterproof trousers ) and a few other bits and bobs. We'll tell you more about exactly what they need and where to get it nearer the time.

For the last 5 years, prior to our partnership, I have kitted out my son with Dare 2b winter clothing. Living and growing up in Austria, Sam wears that kit all winter, its not only used for skiing, but he wears it on his way to and from school, which for a 20-minute walk in summer, turns into an hour-long walk-in winter, not because of battling the elements, but because they slide, roll, climb through every bit of snow they can. He basically lives in the kit whenever he is outside for the 4 months of the year, and so far, it has survived the test of time and has stayed waterproof after multiple washes.
