Austria - Lungau

110 km of perfectly groomed slopes are accessible just 500m from the slopes. This area is called Grosseck-Speiereck and offers a good variety of runs suitable for all abilities. There are also plenty of mountain bars and restaurants to catch your breath, compare stories and warm up with a hot chocolate.  

The lift pass covers two further ski areas which we may also decide to visit - Aineck/Katschberg is 5 km away has 16 lifts and offers a further 70km  of skiing. Fanningberg is 14km away and has some more challenging red and black runs.

All the ski areas have dedicated beginner zones

This family-run hotel is located on the outskirts of St.Michael in the Salzburger Land and is the perfect base for exploring the Lungau ski area and just 500m from the lifts. The hotel has been extensively renovated over the past few years and has a wellness area with a sauna, bar and restaurant serving hearty breakfast buffets and regional 3-course menus in the evening. 

All rooms are equipped with shower/bath, WC, flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Most rooms have balconies with views across the valley

Lungau is suitable for coach and air groups and is situated just an hour and a half from Salzburg airport,

Please make sure your child has a valid passport with at least 6 months left until it expires on the date of departure.

An EHIC / GHIC card. If your child has an EHIC card it will remain valid until its expiry date. Following Brexit this has been replaced by the GHIC card which is still free and means you have access to free healthcare whilst in Europe. We have also included a comprehensive travel insurance policy in your package 

Spending money - They shouldn't need much but a small amount of sterling for whilst they are travelling in the UK and on the ferry and the remainder in Euro's. Enough so they can get the odd hot chocolate on the mountain, a snack at the services en route to the hotel and a souvenir or two to thank you for letting them go on this amazing trip!

Skiwear - The cost of skiwear has come down dramatically over the past few years so this wont cost the earth. We provide the rental of boots, helmets, ski's and poles but they'll need a ski jacket, sallopettes ( waterproof trousers )  and a few other bits and bobs. We'll tell you more about exactly what they need and where to get it nearer the time.
