Serre Chevalier is a collection of French mountain villages which includes the walled city of Briancon, Europe’s highest town, at one end, and Le Monêtier-les-Bains, famed for thermal springs, at the other.
In between are the other two main villages of Chantmerle and Villeneuve. The area also lays claim to over 300 days of sunshine a year.
Schools love the authentic Alpine feel combined with a high standard of facilities and attractions you would expect in one of France’s top resorts. The resort is just over 14 hours from Calais by coach and within 2 hours of its nearest airport.
The entire ski area caters perfectly for a mixed ability group and its relaxed, laid back ambient is particularly appealing to party leaders.
It would be difficult to beat the Serre Chevalier ski area which has many entry points to minimise queueing at peak times. There are a huge variety of runs of all levels over 50 for beginners, another 50 for intermediates and 20 more for the experts.
Skiing is possible from the lowest height of 1200m in Briancon to almost glacier height (2860m) above Monetier. School groups will sample wide open snow bowls at higher altitudes as well as stunning runs back through the trees to resort level. In the Monetier section, you can drop the best part of a mile in altitude without a stop.
Great progression from wide and plentiful nursery slopes and an enviable snow record (the high north and east-facing slopes keep their snow until May and 80% of the skiing is located above 2000m) makes it ideal for any school group from December to late Easter.

This is an ideal place for a medium sized group (max 61 beds) looking for sole occupancy within a big French ski area – a rarity for school groups.
The following are all included in the trip package
Serre Chevalier is suitable for both coach or air groups
Coach - Luxury UK coaches from 49 - 85 seats, Channel ferry or Eurotunnel crossing. Approximately 14 hours from Calais.
Air - Direct flights from The UK to Turin or Grenoble. Turin is a 2 hour transfer and Grenoble is around 2 hour 30 min away, with return overseas airport transfers included.
As well as the fantastic skiing, a school ski trip to Grand Massif offers some brilliant après-ski activities, including bowling, ice-skating, swimming, tobogganing, cinema and many excellent restaurants. The hotel has plenty of in-house facilities to keep the group entertained, but there are extra optional out-house activities available.
Please make sure your child has a valid passport with at least 6 months left until it expires on the date of departure.
EHIC / GHIC CARD - If your child has an EHIC card it will remain valid until its expiry date. Following Brexit, this has been replaced by the GHIC card which is still free and means you have access to free healthcare whilst in Europe. You can apply for a GHIC card HERE
SPENDING MONEY - They shouldn't need much but a small amount of sterling for whilst they are at the airport and the remainder in Euro's. Enough so they can get the odd hot chocolate on the mountain, a snack at the services en route to the hotel and a souvenir or two to thank you for letting them go on this amazing trip!
SKIWEAR - The cost of skiwear has come down dramatically over the past few years so this won't cost the earth. We provide the rental of boots, helmets, ski's and poles but they'll need a ski jacket, salopettes ( waterproof trousers ) and a few other bits and bobs. We'll tell you more about exactly what they need and where to get it nearer the time.

For the last 5 years, prior to our partnership, I have kitted out my son with Dare 2b winter clothing. Living and growing up in Austria, Sam wears that kit all winter, its not only used for skiing, but he wears it on his way to and from school, which for a 20 minute walk in summer, turns into an hour-long walk-in winter, not because of battling the elements, but because they slide, roll, climb through every bit of snow they can. He basically lives in the kit whenever he is outside for the 4 months of the year, and so far, it has survived the test of time, and has stayed waterproof after multiple washes.
