Located in the Salzburg region and sitting amid 100km of slopes at 1,740m, this is Austria’s snowiest winter sports destination with 26 cableways and ski lifts spread over ten entry points, carrying skiers up to a high point of 2,313m, with drop-dead gorgeous views along the way. As one of Austria’s highest resorts, it’s renowned for its excellent snow record and is a great choice for early and late season skiing.
Obertauern’s unique claim to fame is as the ski resort where the Beatles filmed the snow scenes in Help! back in 1965. But more importantly for today's skier, this is the ultimate ski-in, ski-out resort and Austria's answer to the high-level purpose-built resorts of the French Alps but with traditional Austrian charm!

The skiing is well-linked by an impressively fast and efficient lift system with a variety of snow-sure slopes Obertauern is suitable for all abilities.
For beginners Obertauern offers a range of nursery slopes including a high-altitude beginner area accessible on the Schaidberg chair, with easy runs back into the valley. Intermediates are well served with easier intermediate runs lower down and the more challenging ones higher up the mountain, and a circuit of the whole area easily achieveable by a good intermediate skier. Experts will enjoy the steep slopes from the Gamsleiten chair.

Located just a few steps from the slopes and with scenic mountain views, the Youth Hotel Shaidberg is ideal for school groups. The hotel has recently been renovated and is decorated in a modern, comfortable style. There is plenty to keep you entertained including a lounge area, table football, air hockey and table tennis so you can relax and unwind after a hard day on the slopes. The restaurant serves good quality, freshly cooked meals and our package includes breakfast, a hot lunch and 3 course evening meal.
If we want to explore Obertauern further (we will do!), the hotel is only a short walk to the village.

Obertauern is suitable for both coach and air groups
Air groups will fly to Salzburg or Munich depending on routes and availability. The transfer to resort takes approximately 1.5 hours from Salzburg or 2.5 hours from Munich
For coach groups we keep your rooms on the last day so the group can shower and change after their last days skiing. We also include breakfast on the return ferry crossing. The travel time is approximately 14 hours from Calais.
