Austria - Zell Am See
Mountains, lake and a Glacier, Zell Am See and Kaprun is one of the prettiest areas in the Salzburgerland Alps. The charming town perches on the edge of Lake Zell, which is in itself is a breathtaking sight.
The ski area is split into two main areas, Zell am See boasting 27 lifts servicing 80km of skiing, and Kaprun, a short stones throw away and the home of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier with 23 lifts and 60km of skiing. The highest slopes reach an impressive 3030m (up on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier) and, with all of the well-groomed pistes covered by snow cannons, snow coverage is always good making it the perfect choice for early and late season skiing. The resort has a very diverse ski area with plenty of slopes for beginners and more experienced skiers - ideal for school ski trips.
The lift companies have been busy. In 2019 the ski lift link between Maiskogel (Kaprun centre) and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier was completed introducing the epic 12 km long cable car the "3K" Kaprun-Kitzsteinhorn-K-onnection. On the other side of the mountain in Zell am See the Zell am See Xpres lift was completed linking the area to Saalbach Hinterglemm, Leogang and Fieberbrunn creating a huge ski area.
